About
The Youth Homelessness Practice Library Test Website is intended to work as a central point of contact for youth homelessness workers in their practice.
This project is currently being undertaken by Council to Homeless Persons in partnership with the Housing and Community Building, DHS. The project forms part of best practice development initiatives being delivered by Housing and Community Building.
It is important to note that the project is being run as a trial. Therefore the website is a "mock" website that indicates what type of information could be found on a website that might be funded into the longer-term. This project seeks feedback from the youth homelessness sector on what a “real” website might look like and what it might contain. On completion of the test phase a plan and project proposal for a longer term website for youth homelessness practitioners will be submitted to Housing and Community Building, DHS for consideration.
A consultant website developer has been engaged to work on the project, including managing content and technical aspects during the three-month test phase. Incorporating input from the youth homelessness sector, the website will do two key things:
- provide information and resources on a wide range of issues associated with youth homelessness
- provide youth homelessness workers (predominantly in SAAP) with networking and practice support opportunities.
Documents and links to other sites are provided throughout the website. Search options are available on every page and there is ‘tagging’ (cross-referencing) throughout site to make using it as efficient and user-friendly as possible.
The 3 month test phase of the site commenced on Monday 10th August, 2009.
It is most important to get your feedback on the website as it is currently structured, along with your suggestions for improvements. You can do this from any page on the site. Your feedback will be able to be viewed by others in the interests of sharing comments and ideas.
It is hoped that the Practice Library Website will be a key resource for the youth homelessness sector moving forward.
Thank you in anticipation for your contributions.
