Same Sex Attracted, Transgender and Intersex Young People

SSATI young people experiencing homelessness are overrepresented in homelessness services. They may be at risk of homelessness or become homeless due to family conflict arising over sexual identity or sexual development issues. Other factors may also be present for SSATI young people, such as shame and embarrassment and a feeling of not belonging.

Here you will find information and resources in relation to SSATI young people and homelessness.

ALSO Foundation

www.also.org.au

Established in 1980, the ALSO Foundation is a non-government-funded organisation that works to enhance the lives of Victoria's diverse gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer communities. This includes young people. The ALSO Foundation considers that young people are a vital and important aspect of the ALSO community and one which must be respected, nurtured and supported. The Foundation runs a transitional support program for homeless SSATI young people with a regional partner and undertakes a range of initiatives in relation to SSATI young people.
